Backgrounder:
Liberal activist
groups and the liberal media have launched an all-out attack against Rush
Limbaugh by falsely claiming that Rush called any soldier opposing the war a
“phony soldier.” As MRC has documented, the attack is unfounded.
Sen. Harry Reid is leading the smear campaign, sending a letter
to Clear Channel president Mark Mays (see right) denouncing Rush. The goal
of this attack is clear: force Rush off the air and silence the voice of
conservatives in our nation.
To counter the actions of Reid and the liberal media, the Media
Research Center is moving rapidly to rally 50,000 citizens to personally
respond to this attack by signing a group letter that will be delivered
directly to
Sen. Reid demanding he apologize to Rush, the American people and the
troops!
We will also deliver a copy of this letter to Clear Channel to
let them know that we support Rush.
Send Your Personal Comments to Rush
After adding
your name to our Citizen Letter, please take a few additional moments to
send your comments of support to Rush Limbaugh. The MRC will print all the
comments received and deliver them directly to Rush!
Help the MRC
defend the right of Rush and every other conservative citizen to
speak freely in the marketplace of ideas!
Harry Reid’s Attack On Rush Limbaugh
"Rush Limbaugh took it upon himself to
attack the courage and character of those fighting and dying for him and for
all of us. … He never served in uniform. He never saw in person the extreme
difficulty of maintaining peace in a foreign country engaged in a civil war.
He never saw a person in combat. Yet, that he thinks his opinion on the war
is worth more than those who have been on the front lines.” --Sen. Harry Reid (10/2/07)
“The war is lost.” -- Sen. Harry Reid (April 17, 2007)
"Our military commanders are incompetent.” --Sen. Harry Reid (June 12, 2007)
“Thousands of active troops and veterans were subjected to Mr. Limbaugh’s
unpatriotic and indefensible comments on your broadcast. We trust you will
agree that not a single one of our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends
serving overseas is a “phony soldier.” We call on you to publicly repudiate
these comments that call into question their service and sacrifice and to
ask Mr. Limbaugh to apologize for his comments. --Sen. Harry Reid’s letter to Mark Mays, president of Clear Channel
